The President nominates a candidate for SCOTUS, so in theory he should probably have interviewed Barrett and Kavanaugh. I’m guessing another crony around him told him who to put forth for the nominations though and he didn’t actually do any work.
I’ve said it before, but I’m buying a flag pole and a flag for just the occasion. After a couple weeks I’ll take it down and probably never use it again. I might even put some of those cheap pinwheels around the base to add some flair.
Not how that works. Assuming 3 MTF trans athletes took the top three spots, they would also place 3 females at birth as the top 3. In this case, the trans girl took second overall, so she shared second. Nobody got displaced, everyone was able to compete. In the way, a trans athlete would share the same position of the closest competition that they bested and behind anyone else they didn’t.
Sounds like this is about the Macklemore situation. I haven’t really seen him be necessarily surprised by what’s transpired, but he’s well within his rights to be critical of the actions taken.
People with platforms can have strong opinions on matters just like everyone else. They have a platform that many of them earned (obviously not all) so it’s theirs to do with it what they want. There’s zero chance that Macklemore didn’t know this was a possibility. He believes in standing up for Palestine and calling out a genocide, so he put his neck on the line to support those beliefs. In this case, he gained a new fan from me today. People that are willing to do that earn some respect from me. On the other hand, someone like Ronnie Radke who also is very outspoken, I’ve removed from my music rotation because I think he’s a shit person. Similar to Kid Rock, but other than a couple of his classic songs I enjoyed as a youth, I didn’t listen to him anyway. In both examples, I’ll smear the shit out of their name to anyone that will listen.
Actions have consequences, and rarely are any of these people truly surprised when they reach the ‘find out’ phase, but they may act like it to try and save face.
The way California handled it at women’s state track this past season I think is a fair balance. There was a MTF gal that took second in some race, and she and another each got credit for second place. At least until a better solution comes up, I don’t see why that would be an issue.
I can see an argument why that’s not fair to a trans individual for singling them out, but in that same vein there’s an argument about how a MTF may have biological advantages over the competition.
If the above can’t be achieved, I think allowing trans in sports is the right call. As someone that was a competitive athlete, I have to admit that I didn’t just jump to this opinion and did have to reason with myself. I was never against it, but still had instinctive doubts.
That’s not to defend Newsome at all, he’s a snake. Even if these are is true beliefs, that he doesn’t want to be on that side and perhaps it’s a moral dilemma he knows is wrong, he can absolutely do better than this.
I was super happy to see him back after getting the gig at SNL. I was also thrilled to see to really well there in his first season.
If you’re getting free weights, I’d get an adjustable bench as well. If you already have a bike, you can get a bike trainer to ride inside when weather isn’t cooperating. I’d avoid a treadmill since as you mentioned, the outside is accessible, and if you’re not in a climate with snow and ice, a little rain sometimes feels good during a run.
But like others mentioned, dumbbells and a kettlebell will be all you need to do a lot of strength exercises. An adjustable bench allows you to expand on that. You can get dumbbells that use plates, so you dont need a full set, just the bars and plates. In the future you could get other bars for different strength training if you feel the need and you can just use existing plates.
Otherwise as someone else mentioned, you can do a lot with just bodyweight traing too. A good mat will go a long ways for that. You can supplement that with resistance bands that take up minimal space.
There are a ton of skit channels on platforms like YouTube that have filled the void. Most are shorts, but there are channels like Viva La Dirt League that does some longer form sketches. Chris and Jack is another channel that I think does some really funny sketch comedy too. Dropout.tv is imo the best subscription out there. While not really sketch, it’s almost entirely improv, but it can kind of scratch that itch.
Jeremy Culhane was on Dropout before SNL too. They’re a great company that treats employees and customers great.
We vacuum the house almost daily with a little shark hand-held unit, mostly because we have 2-3 dogs at all times. In the weekends the good vacuum comes out for a deeper session. We bought a carpet cleaner and we use that maybe every 6 months or so. Little to no shoes in the house helps a lot.
The big thing is to not let them get too dirty with more frequent cleanings. It’s a lot easier to do that than it is to try and clean a heavily soiled rug or carpet on fewer occasions.
Carpet cleaners can be rented for pretty cheap, but if you use it more frequently, it’s better to just bite the bullet up front since it will pay itself off.

In the primaries, people will vote for their favorite candidate in the party they’re registered with. In the general, you have two choices and one is usually a Democrat and the other Republican. There are a couple “independents” that have made it through. That’s how it works in a first past the post voting system. At that point you’re likely voting for the lesser of two evils but good candidates can make it through.
It’s a shit system, but some people will abstain because they think that a protest non vote in the general is some way of protesting. The math doesn’t add up and it’s why Trump is president. Too many idiots decided that Kamala wasn’t good enough, even though she was clearly, on all levels, better than Trump. I didn’t love her, but I knew that if she won, the states and the world would be in a better place. You’ll heard those idiots parroting shit about her being pro Isreal, but anyone with half a brain could understand that Trump was going to be far worse for everything, including the Isreal conflict, than Harris.
I have a coworker that did IT in (I think) the air force. He had some superior that was blasting him because his password wasn’t working trying to login. My coworker reset the password, remoted in, logged in and the the guy know it’s working and have him the PW.
He gets a call and the dude is again freaking out on him saying it’s not working. My CW drives across base to assist. He gets there and asks the guy to login. First thing he did is hits caps lock and starts typing. CW tells him what’s wrong, does it himself and it works. And to have him do it again, and the guy hits caps lock… CW says something and the superior snaps on him. He snapped back.
When he got back to his station, he gets the call that he fucked up, and that he just volunteered for a deployment to Alaska, where he sent the next few months.

I agree. It’s both the people and the system. There are people that will hate someone because they do drag ignoring everything else about that person. That’s certainly a learned behaviour from education and other environmental factors like family. It definitely doesn’t help that the US fucked up government is passing legislation to block teaching of different walks of life, so it’s not likely going to get better before it gets worse. Hopefully more adults that aren’t as corrupt will instill better views in their children outside of the fucked curriculums.

Your Monet example I spot on for it. If I heard someone just say they didn’t like them, I honestly wouldn’t know if they meant the act or the person because of what they do. I personally don’t enjoy the product because it’s so over the top, but I have no problems with the people or those that do like it.
I’m sure it was a joke, and I’m a fan of dark humour, but this one came off really poor, imo. I don’t like the traditional Hawaiian pizza with Canadian bacon and pineapple, but I do love a pepperoni, jalapeno and pineapple. The sweet and spicy balance really well.
