For the difference between major and minor keys, that’s true, and my comment didn’t emphasise the distinction because of the context of the parent.

But within major keys or minor keys, I don’t think this is true for most people. Most people do not have absolute (aka “perfect”) pitch, so if you play them a piece of unfamiliar music in a particular key, allow them enough time to forget the pitch at which it was played, then play it again transposed up a semitone, they won’t actually be able to tell it’s played at a higher pitch. The brain hears the relation between pitches, not the absolute pitches, and the relations are all the same.

There are certain exceptions: string instruments sound slightly different when playing the notes of one of the open strings as those strings vibrate sympathetically. Instrument bodies don’t respond exactly the same to two adjacent pitches, so it’s not just the pitch that changes; so does the timbre. But these are subtle effects, especially on an instrument like a piano, and they can disappear entirely on electric or digital instruments leaving only the pitches as the variation.

And there are certain limits: if I play you a piece you know very well, you’ll have an expectation as to the pitch you hear it at and will be able to tell more accurately when it is played differently. If I play it to you very soon after you’ve just heard it, it will be the same. And even if neither applies, if I play it transposed up an octave, you’d have to be tone deaf to not hear the difference.

Fun fact: a friend linked the trailer the other day. I thought “wow, the acting / directing on this actor playing an absolute fucking nutter is impeccable”. I hadn’t heard of the film before, so I looked out up. Saw it was about Elizabeth Holmes whose name i remembered but didn’t know about. Saw there was a picture of her, thought, “wow, the actress they got to play her is an absolute dead ringer… wait a minute…”

What the absolute fuck?! Did no-one speaking to her realise that she was an absolute fruitcake?

Do you think she was motivated by bloodlust for the innocent and cheap oil, or by a sense of duty?

Can you commend responding to a sense of duty at the same time as criticising what it achieved? I can.

I don’t think it’s pure misogyny. I think in particular terfs are not motivated by misogyny but by fear. I think there’s also the fact that trans men just tend to pass better.

Yeah I once looked into getting that but gave up. I just use fish sauce you buy in an asian supermarket. He recommended this as a substitution at some point but I don’t remember if they’re supposed to taste that different.

I bought some to make some old recipes (from Tasting History, which I imagine is a not-insignificant driver of online types having long pepper…?) but had to go online. The local place I go to for spices also didn’t have lovage or savoury - tsk!

A know a few people who use them like a gopro - they record bike rides and stuff like that.

But you have misunderstood them - they have a very obvious recording LED, so they’re not designed to record without people’s knowledge. And they have some detection mechanism to tell (by reflected light) if you put tape over it or (electronically) if you break it, so modifying them to record secretly is not trivial.

If you actually want to record someone secretly, you could buy a button camera that an undercover journalist would use for a fraction of the price and not have to do any modification. It wouldn’t upload everything automatically to Instagram though, which I think for the target audience of the glasses is a big appeal…
