You know how scientific this whole shit is when half the system prompt is “Wait, read the instructions again” a dozen times.
And It’s still not actually following this mess in the end.

I have the game with full DLC in Switch 1 version, kind of hoping they’ll offer the upgrade like some other games did.

So now the AI is not good enough?
They’re that close to an epiphany. Maybe.

It’s either written by a LLM that’s been instructed to drag the little info it had forever, or written by a human that is very convincing at producing robotic, unnaturally articulated text.
Title, summary, first paragraph are basically the same sentence slightly reformulated, and then the rest is going back to every bit of it like a list of bullet points, almost failing to add anything valuable.
I found it painful to parse, and it really does not feel human-like.

Boo hoo, turns out gen AI sucks and becomes way too expensive once the real costs start being passed down to users.
And I mean “start”, because between wild speculation and outright theft of both natural and cultural resources it’s still very far from paying what it owes.

Very little, but I’ve played through Twin Snakes, it certainly doesn’t go anywhere near that length for cut scenes.
Not saying Kojima didn’t enjoy making that, just that there’s a reason nobody is disputing that record.

The most common way to get a Guinness record is to do something so stupid nobody else has done it before and nobody else will try to beat it. I think it applies here.
Also for most people it involves paying a very substantial amount to Guinness. They sell ego trips on one end and books on the other.

This pic has no right to be this good.
Might as well ask why scientists still haven’t invented hyperspace travel yet.
Also, you know who is really invested in having stuff plugged into your brain right now? Musk. Do you want this type of asshole anywhere near your lobes?

We were promised the reign of the basilisk, instead we just get anthropic people whining.

You know, game projects are killed all the time, sometimes for good reasons…
But this was “the Initiative”, Microsoft’s “unlimited resource”, “quadruple A” studio, that was meant to redefine videogame standards no matter the cost. Really, that was what they said back when they announced it. And they shut it down before it could release anything.
They deserve all the ridicule they can get. Also the hate for all the studios they routinely acquire and kill, even when the ones that were actually successful.

Le Chonk
Enough with this shit, you’re not being cute, Mistral.

By the time SC releases in a finished state, its setting will look like fantasy ancient history to the people who might play it.

I agree with the figurative image of the spark to describe something gen AI-produced slop lacks.
Figuratively, because we all know you’re actually being literal and make it about that bullshit you call “soul”. Sorry Christians, this still doesn’t exist.

I don’t really mind games with a lot of narrative, I have a few even on Switch 1/2. But they have to be written well.
I wouldn’t consider Fortune’s Weave an attempt at being “serious”, it’s par for the course for a FE game, and it even has the annoying silly characterization of Awakening and later games (not Awakening stupid, but close at times). It’s just way too much dialogue, and with terribly clumsy exposition.
By the way, which story did you start with ? I took Leda’s, I am kind of worried they all begin like that.

Oh yeah, makes sense that this would work.
Though as you said many games just use the system language and don’t feature an option to change it.

There is some level of region-locking exclusively for Japanese switch 2s. I don’t know if this one is one of those locked models, but they really should make sure before they get one.
Basically, the most common Switch 2 model in Japan is cheaper but it only accepts Japanese Nintendo accounts and it only supports the Japanese language.

You’re right, my client makes it a bit hard to see where comments begin and end, and I got confused with all the separators.
I’d say the game is “already” kind of growing on me. Now there are more real battles on the map, with some variety, a few secondary quests (not many yet) and a few times I even went unprepared on some stuff and had to back down and rethink my strat.
But I’m 30 hours in, I am still not a huge fan of the map mechanics and I still hate the dungeons and their bastardized combat system (fortunately they seem mostly inconsequential, you have to look for them, and chapters end with real battles). That’s why I say it’s a very hard game to recommend, even if it seems to get better I don’t think that game respects the player’s time. Especially not at the beginning.

All very good reasons, but I am also adding loss of skill and opportunities for juniors to learn, and AI often being dangerously incompetent at some tasks and everyone rejecting the responsibility when it is.
And then there is the extensive use of gen AI-produced slop effortlessly invading every space and making everything suck.
No, almost nobody "fearing* AI believes Ultron or Skynet will literally enslave/wage war on humanity. If anything I’m sure the ones who believe the most in AI superintelligence supplanting humans are mostly among AI advocates.
Oh right, I thought it was actually part of the guidelines it was spewing.
At least it’s something it generated and not how the prompt geniuses tried to make that thing comply, I guess.
Still, yeah, awkward how stupid the “internal monologue” sounds and how it ends up getting ignored anyway.
