Psychopomps (from the Greek word ψυχοπομπός, psychopompós, literally meaning the ‘guide of souls’) are creatures, spirits, angels, demons, or deities in many religions whose responsibility is to escort newly deceased souls from Earth to the afterlife.
Their role is not to judge the deceased, but simply to guide them. Appearing frequently on funerary art, psychopomps have been depicted at different times and in different cultures as anthropomorphic entities, horses, deer, dogs, whip-poor-wills, ravens, crows, vultures, owls, sparrows, and cuckoos. In the case of birds, these are often seen in huge masses, waiting outside the home of the dying.
The shinigami of Japanese mythology have been described as psychopomps.

3·12 hours agoYeah it’s odd how that instance structures their links. I’d tried to run it through lemmyverse.link, but they don’t support Fedia.io yet.
Depending on your client you can set how to share links. Mlem for example give the option of share by your instance, the original instance, or through lemmyverse.link (a site that lets you pick your preferred and redirects).
Here’s a world link for the comment

3·21 hours agoYeah I can’t open it either. Tried a couple things to see if I could figure out how the link is structured but couldn’t get it to work. Thought I had it but it took me to a random comment on a random thread that I don’t think was it. No clue

It was a reference to someone else’s earlier post with that title, and the copy suffix.

News@lemmy.world•Trump Suddenly Opens Dozens of Gas Stations Selling Suspiciously Cheap Fuel, and Experts Are Already Warning of Impending DisasterEnglish
161·1 day agoI keep seeing claims that Trump is doing this, but I have not seen anyone make any actual assertions of an evidence to that effect.
You can always tell when someone doesn’t read the article, sees the headline, and jumps straight into the comments because it’s literally right there in both the article and the short version.
At the beginning of the article referenced:
The White House launched 25 Freedom Fuel gas stations, all selling fuel at $3.47 a gallon.
The White House announced the initiative on July 7 on X with a video of customers thanking President Donald Trump for lowering gas prices. The gas stations are located in the greater Philadelphia area, the White House told USA TODAY in an email on Tuesday, July 7.
I mean, did Trump come up with this idea? Very unlikely. I mean we all know how he operates at this point. Someone approaches him with an idea or product, and all Trump does is slap his name on it, ie: Trump Steaks, Trump Mobile, etc. and then he collects the royalties or kickbacks or whatever.
Either way, the wild claims with nothing to back them up
Again, you clearly didn’t read the article
i.e. OP’s title
Not my title, the community rules state:
- Post titles should be the same as the article used as the source. Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed.
even the article doesn’t say Trump is doing this, just the submitted title.
It’s in the actual article, not the TL;DR version for brevity because people don’t read full articles.
In a July 1st post on Trump’s social media platform Truth Social, the president praised a “VERY smart Retailer” for “stepping up,” and “lowering gas prices at 25 ‘FREEDOM FUEL’ Stations across the Greater Philadelphia Area.”
“This Retailer is taking the lead, and others should follow,” Trump lauded. “They are doing this because they love the USA.”
What, do you expect him to run it personally or something? It’s directly posted on the whitehouse.gov site. While everyone out here is using him to make money, if it’s on the .gov website it doesn’t really matter who came up with the idea, he stamped it, and had it put up on a government official site. If you want a list of where these actually are, they’re available on the Freedom Fuel website. Feel free to go drive out to them.

141·2 days agoThat’s like saying: everyone buy from Amazon, they’re undercutting everyone and taking a loss. Buy while the getting’s good.
Then when the competition suffers and options are reduced, prices will creep up and they’ve established themselves as a moderately successful brand. That’s just standard playbook stuff.
Start a business at a loss by offering a deal too good to be true, ex: Disney+ for $1 a month, then pull consumers away and build your name, then price creep.
Plus as others have mentioned it’s either stolen, or diluted. No way they’re offering fuel at the same quality (detergent gasoline) as you’d get at like Shell, Mobile, or Chevron.

I mean, the content I’ve seen on there isn’t super interesting to me, but I’m also not really a fan of the TikTok / YouTube Shorts medium where you just swipe through videos. I really just use it as an alternative to catbox.moe and sort of to just support a fedi platform. But it seems like it mostly relies on hashtags to find anything.
So I may not be the best one to answer that.
That’s just a redirect for the catbox.moe service
Oh yeah. Voyager doesn’t support Loops embedded yet. It still opens them in the in app browser.
I like Voyager and was using them for a long time, but tried Mlem on a whim and I like that it feels more native with the current UI. Still, there’s some things I feel Voyager just has right that I wish would make it over to Mlem.
