19·3 days agoIn October, the group played an active role in advocating for the release of a 16-year-old Palestinian-American from Florida who had been held in an Israeli prison for eight months. Mohammed Ibrahim was released last month.
Oh, it’s that kind of terrorism - the sort where you stand up to protect the victims of Israel’s genocidal fascism. Makes sense now.

4·3 days agoIf there’s one thing I know about Americans it’s that when they say “bullshit” they mean “utter poppycock, twaddle and codswallop.”

News@lemmy.world•Trump’s FDA plans to put a ‘black box’ warning on COVID vaccines: report
3·3 days agoIt will probably just be vague fearmongering, like “This product hasn’t been proven not to have the potential to do really bad things to you.”
The problem is that even if at some level they realize this, self-deceit and denial is an easier way to deal with the feeling that maybe their whole world view has been a bad mistake, than admitting their whole world view has been a bad mistake and changing it.

So It’s Republican policy that the government must not, even in the smallest way, make life any easier for disabled people? And the government must not do nothing and leave in place something that already makes life easier for them, but must actively intervene to make it harder? Of course it is, but what the fuck is wrong with these people that they dedicate their entire life to getting into government so they can punch down and hurt others? How have they not even accidentally stumbled into being better than the worst they can be?
Americans must learn to adjust to a lower standard of living, he told the crowd before suggesting a specific solution to prices hiked by his tariffs, which he continues to insist are a success. “You can give up certain products. You can give up pencils…You don’t need 37 dolls for your daughter. Two or three is nice.”
Trump thinks the economic problem is pencil addicts and spoiled little girls. The guy is a mental ruin.

politics @lemmy.world•A Democratic mayor for Miami is not just Trump backlash – it’s a seismic shift
17·5 days agoRemember there’s also the Republican ownership of voting machine companies, the Republican replacement of state officials who oversee elections, and the Republican demand that their DoJ “comprehensively” oversee elections in states (whereas in 2024 they argued the opposite, that the DoJ should have no access to monitor elections). They have a number of tricks up their sleeves.

9·5 days agoThe aging sea lion enables the Stephen Millers to go about their nasty business while everyone is looking elsewhere. That’s one way he’s dangerous. The other is that he’s a threatened malignant narcissist with dementia and diminishing impulse control, and one of the world’s most powerful armies.

Until version 8.8.7 of Notepad++, the developer used a self-signed certificate, which is available in the Github source code.
That doesn’t sound wise.

World News@lemmy.world•Foreign tourists could be required to disclose 5 years of social media histories under Trump administration planEnglish
46·6 days agoIt depends on their relationship with the social media companies. There’s a good chance companies like Meta have already given the authorities a lot of data on their users. US law enforcement might already know about some of your accounts based on your identity, and then claiming you have none might not work well.
