SK is looking at avoiding friction with NK and has every right to want those transfers to be private or even to deny those transfers BUT outright canceling them might not help NK/SK relations much by doing that AND condemns the POWs to potential detention and death. Basically what you want is all files you own should be on more than one drive and computer. Not just raid where the raid array can be damaged or the file overwritten by a careless mistake.

Basically my local files are incrementally synced daily from my computers -> a single board computer with 2 3.5" slots and a big ass drive with zfs. Because ZFS/BTRFS support incremental syncs it normally takes 1-3 minutes daily to send changed files per computer. ZFS also knows when its own data is corrupt and if I find any I can resync known good data from the known good copy.

If the big ass drive dies all the data is on the other machines and I can just replace it and resync.

If the big ass drive isn’t big enough or gets old I put a second drive in the other slot and sync A->B and get rid of or repurpose the other drive.

If I want greater reliability I can add a second big ass drive in mirror mode.

If I want even greater reliability I can buy a second such setup and put it another parties house.

If I’m worried about the drive getting lost/stolen encryption makes it so nobody at another address can read shit and I can still do incremental syncs.

This of course isn’t free because why the fuck would it be but you can do a ton with just a single machine and drive

The folks most concerned about such a change are those who live in the US since I’m assuming only we are exposed to this stupidity eg European providers aren’t renaming shit based on a lunatics directives. For us yr.no is hard to adjust to since it supports the english language BUT only uses Celsius. This just isn’t even slightly true. I have 2 4K monitors and a 1080p one. I can visibly see that using either 4K monitor looks similar to the 1080p other than having slightly superior color fidelity on the 4K. That is the 4K looks BETTER than the 1080p.

Intuitively I feel like you can trivially draw 1080p on a 4K panel by literally drawing 4 pixels for every 1 in the source whether that is the exact mechanics or not it is just plainly obvious that this isn’t so. I feel like people are thinking of older monitors drawing at non-native resolutions which are not exact multiples of native. I have literally never seen anyone’s 4K display be blurry displaying games running at 1080p which is common for performance reasons.

I feel like the details add to the game and if I had more than enough hardware to run a given game I would enable the feature and could see my self using it much more so if a later evolution required less of a performance hit.

1080p 24" monitor from 2008 = 92 DPI 2560x1440 28" “2K” monitor = 104 DPI

Meanwhile 24" 4K monitor = 184 DPI 14" 4K laptop = 315 DPI

What you use is barely different and scaling doesn’t make sense.

High DPI monitors are useless without scaling.
