This video is terribly made. It doesn’t answer the question. It doesn’t even try.
its a bad question. its a case by case thing. you can ask “does baldur’s gate 3 use less ram on linux” and even that, to what extent? what causes the less usage? is it enough to drop a ram stick?
Sees thumbnail… skip.
I DGAF who the creator is. If you use a video thumbnail that screams “engagement bait”, then I’m going anywhere else.
It’s Linus tech tips. They even have a video talking about how they don’t really want to do it, but it works, iirc.
What a fantastic ecosystem that has been built!
Unfortunately thumbnails/titles are everything, and this style works. YouTube tried (and somewhat succeeded) in making it better by rewarding engaged views, but now they’ve taken a step backwards by hiding that metric.
Of course, I’m the only one who watches YouTube the correct way, bookmarking the subscriptions tab, adding all of the videos from my creators to my watch later, then watching that playlist. I only hit up the home tab if I run out of stuff to watch.
For me it was seeing Linus talking about Linux that made me want to skip… Wonder what he screwed up this time and blames the system instead of the user
For me seeing Linus’s face makes me want to skip, lol
he never blamed Linux, he put the blame on pop os for shipping a broken DE to stable, though he also saw issues with other distros which didn’t make it fully in the vids.
also let’s be honest the steam thing was also stupid that it would brick his DE before. there’s defending Linux against hate and there’s defending poor UX and leadership choices against any criticism.
This. There are so many excellent reasons to dislike Linus, but the way Pop_OS! screwed him over (yes, that way around) isn’t one of them.
Yep, thats why I hate when people bring that up, because I have to defend him, which I am loathe to do with how much I hate him lol
That’s a personal issue. The thumbnail isn’t to blame for that
Not wanting to engage in or encourage the process of social harm is not a ‘personal issue.’
