The island suffers from long, daily power outages, while goods are accessible to few consumers. The only thing that seems to remain intact from the Cuban Revolution are its slogans
The vast majority of the population support the revolution. Even during the anti-government protests during the COVID crisis, the pro-government counter-protestors outnumbered the dissenters. The Cuban democratic process is comprehensive and represents the people, it is by no means an “oligarch regime.”
Instead, you dodge that you posted a fascist news source, and dodge the main cause of crisis: the western blockade, which is brutal, inhumane, and designed to punish the Cuban people for throwing off their status as a colony for the US Empire. This is chauvanism, you deny the people of Cuba the right to chart their destiny while erasing the root cause of their suffering, imperialist aggression.
The pro-government counter-protestors came out because they support their government, which has been working tirelessly to resolve the crisis at hand. For the people of Cuba, the choice is whether to retain the socialist system they fought and died to bring about and protect, even in the face of constant terrorism from the US Empire such as the Bay of Pigs and the imperialist blockade, or give up their soverignty and become a colony for the US again. Considering the immense gains of the revolution, such as a doubling of life expectancy to going to full literacy from a majority illiterate population, the robust education and medical systems despite bloclade, dramatic democratization of the economy, etc, the choice is clear: protect the revolution!
Nobody is under the delusion that there isn’t a crisis in electricity happening right now. What’s clear is that there is a real problem, and that western imperialists are trying to shift the blame soley to the government, and away from the blockade. These western imperialists such as yourself wish to see the Cuban people stripped of their sovereignty, and returned to a colony. The Cuban people will not have it!
Further, Cubans do elect their leaders. Both Cuban sources and non-Cuban sources affirm the comprehensive role of democracy in guiding policy and upholding the will of the people. The imperialist narrative requires this to be false, because imperialists try to justify the terrorism used against the people of Cuba by saying the Cuban people want change, but this is wrong! What the people of Cuba wish for is unrestricted trade and the ability to stand on equal ground at the world stage, without the genocidal US Empire sabotaging them for over half a century.
And yes, it would be presumptuous, and wrong, for you to assume I’ve never spoken to Cuban people about Cuba. Just like the rest of your narratives, they rely on false-premises and fall apart under basic scrutiny, even when you again dodge that you willingly use fascist sources and implicitly support the blockade.
