YUNOhost is designed for this. You can do almost everything graphically via the webadmin. Mine has been running for a couple of years and I’m very happy with it. I have email, XMPP (both of which were installed out of the box), a website, file sharing and a few other things. There are a tonne of apps available, including Fediverse instances, Nextcloud. It’s a very cool thing to have available for making self-hosting more accessible.
I second this - dedicated devices are the way. I have a Kobo for books, modern Walkman for high quality music and laptop for video.
Let me know if you want any tips setting yourself up.
I am off-grid BTW.
I think I still have some grief from all of them. I don’t see it as a bad thing though, just a measure of how much love I’ve had in my life. On a practical level, I think it can help you to see what you’ve got with the person you’re with when you can remember what it is to lose it.
I think I see grief as an aspect of love tbh. It’s painful but sweet and beautiful all the same.
That’s fascinating. Can you recommend any books on the subject? The easier to read the better!
I remember the impact it had when it came out. Beautiful
John Mayer’s cover of Free Fallin by Tom Petty. The vocal, the sweet guitar. I love it.
That does look genuinely scary. Thanks for sharing the video
Tax evasion/fraud. I think they were involved with arms and drugs too but it was the tax that they got nailed for. Spent most of their twenties doing some very hard time.
Don’t forget that the president of the United States is caught up in all of this too.
That bottom one looks just like the sort of 50 year-old skinhead that turns around to look at you when you enter a pub at lunchtime.
A couple of guys I went to school with got up to some mischief in Thailand and got sent to prison there for a few years. They were pretty different by the time they got home.
I’m in the habit of powering off so that if my laptop is lost or stolen I will have the peace of mind of my data being in an encrypted state.
You’re right and that’s another reason why economic equality is important.
It’s probably a pacing thing. Having a section of the film where the protagonist has to sit down and learn about threat models, flash a Tails image to a USB stick and fiddle around with PGP keys before they can communicate securely would probably ruin the vibe.
Of all the things you could do with your finite existence in this world, you choose to dispute the name of an open source selfhhostable bookmarking app
🤦♀️
I think AI has mostly been about luring investors into pumping up share prices rather than offering something of genuine value to consumers.
Some people are gonna lose a lot of other people’s money over it.
I don’t like recommendation algorithms. They’re like processed food for the mind.
