If you dont own the company, you’re getting fucked even if you’re not literally getting fucked. The whole employment system abuses humanity. It’s all fucking depressing. Sex trafficking sucks much worse than run of the mill getting fucked by the workforce, and it should be eliminated, but it wont be eliminated by shutting down the porn industry.

politics @lemmy.world•Spotify Drops ICE Recruitment Ads Amid Artist Protests
2·2 days agoMaybe OP is overall opposed to military and war. I don’t know, but that would be an argument.
I am opposed to both, but so long as I have a 401k, my money is being contributed to/invested in things I find deplorable, so it’s a little weird to me to pick and choose. Overt shit on unnecessary services like spotify would be an easy place to make a stand, but it’s likely overall unhelpful. Evil gonna evil.
One controls the flue, another controls the damper. The rest are just there to look cool and hang tools from.

31·3 days agoI’m all in on no limits for free speech. The government’s job is to provide services, not determine and police morality. And hate speech does not have a concrete definition, so it’s a moving target (the government could define talking shit about Republicans as hate speech and make it illegal, for example). I don’t like Nazis or racism or homophobia, but i like the idea that you are legally allowed to say nazi, racist or homophobic shit and I can hear it and choose to shun you.
I’m glad Canada is there for you with their rules if that makes sense to you. Not everybody has to agree with no limits on free speech – plenty of places to live with mostly free-ish speech laws.
The Stones could write one hell of a catchy, riff, hook, and chorus tho. Their sloppy musicianship (im being generous) is part of their charm.
Im sure they invented a sound as much as any of the other groups that get credited with that nonsense.
God damn, i’ve never seen a comment that was more fucking correct than this. Bravo.

51·6 days agoA lot of what you say seems true. I’m still voting straight ticket democrat in every election until Trump and the various MAGA iterations are out of office. Even for dinky local elections; Township Comptroller? Fuck the Republican candidate. Uncontested Republican? I’m writing in Barack Obama. If you’re running as a republican, you’ve lost my vote.

2·8 days agoI recently fixed a phantom/ghost problem in my GMC acadia by replacing the touch glass for about $100. It was easy peasy. Had I taken it to the dealership, I assume it would have been a $1000 repair as they would have replaced the whole head unit rather than just the warped glass.

Anywhere between like 15 and 45, I think. I dunno because i didn’t look it up and im not a brain doctor guy.
I immediately wondered if some other country called something else “Greek salad”… I tried to click the link in the photo to see if it was another name for like Ambrosia Salad or something desserty.
Nope… Just a delicious, oily, salty Greek salad like I know and love from the local Coney.
Raspberry preserves and pretzel rods.

57·10 days agoI wouldn’t pay money for access to AI. The convenience is not worth a single cent to me. But am I the average person? Is the average person sold on this nonsense enough to subscribe to it? The first hit is free to get you hooked. So if the plan is to get the average person dependent on it while it’s free and then eventually charge for it, i’m not buying and I wonder how many people will. AI output is fucking garbage.

3·12 days agoSame with Pennsylvania. But I dont know of any jobs that pay that little, nor do I know of anybody that would work a job at that rate. However, i believe it creates psychological leverage benefitting employers holding wages low: “I know we pay $10.25 per hour, but that’s $3 above minimum wage! We pay really well.”

281·12 days agoBut shouldnt fact be neutral? For example: “the holocaust was evil and killed countless innocent civilians” or “the holocaust resulted in (actual estimate) civilian deaths” The former is emotional and the latter is factual, but both highlight the perpetrated evil against the innocent.
Maybe I’m oversimplifying your point.

No, that’s still bad because it conflicts with religious values.
