Gays for Trump never had much prominence and you speak as if they make up a sizable chunk of a convention of 20k bigoted people. 3.8% percent of adults in 2016 identified as lgbtq and an estimated 14% of those voted for Trump that year. That means statistically there would be 99 lgbtq people there out of 20k, but:

It also doesn’t filter out the few women at that sausage fest.

It would appear that grindr has decided in this environment that it’s better to keep their head down. Obviously a typical major service like grindr uses cloudflare. They are not going to “crash” as a result of overusage in an area because any concentrated traffic is easily spread across their network and overloading traffic is handled by cloudflare seamlessly. Unless grindr is actively giving location Hotspot maps for every event I think any dismissal of the article’s evidence is in service of narrative rather than evidence, ironically.

I don’t think you read your own article. Joe was already picked and he was referring to the runoffs. The actual situation was that Trump was promising the checks and then when he lost the Republicans blocked the funds for it as punishment for not electing him again. Biden supporting them and needed a majority to overcome the block. The first part of the checks was released under Trump still in December, but no more disbursement was being allowed by congress.

Your suposition is that the power of the purse still applies here. Trump has operated the executive as a collective slush fund, many times using horrible arguments that fail in court and then proceeding anyways. Also he’s allocated money from military coup projects like Venezuala to funds not under congressional control illegally.

Bernies plan is to first expand Medicare to all ages. Going off Trump’s logic this would be done by directing CMS by executive order to adjust the rates, the treasury department to allocate the necessary trust fund expenditures, the IRS to apply the necessary taxes, and the justice department to aggressively target every single possible violation in the private health insurance industry. Bernie’s actual plan is to use the bully pulpit as intended to pressure congress to act in accordance with those changes ahead of time, completely different. That’s because Trump moves to erode government into the pockets of the rich and Bernie seeks to build it stronger to benefit everyone. Executive overreach expansion has only been applied to benefit the rich effectively where everywhere else it had failed.

Usually typos are the result of multiple people having their own template form that only gets sent to their initializing accounts. Nothing more cringey than obsessing over brain chemicals when you preach anti-scientific bullshit on the regular. The title of the article is also pretty dogshit, but probably speaks to a different person being in charge of the title than the body. He hasn’t backed down at all from the sentiment of his statements, which is that human gender terms don’t define an almighty god. Not that hard to understand if you’re not seething behind your micropenis syndrome worried that people getting gender affirming care are gonna be bigger than you too.

I agree completely on this for anxiety. It’s helpful to keep this and similar perspectives: It’s not that I’m bad for not explaining it properly in the way that a hostile employer is satisfied with, instead it’s a hostile employer that views anxiety as a benefit to their power over you and is refusing to level with you or admit they could also be wrong. The lack of recourse or proof* is not you failing to earn it, it’s their failure to afford you what is common decency. You didn’t make a mistake, you weren’t nefarious, so if they won’t see that then it’s entirely a them issue.

Perspective is extremely important with mental traps.

I’ve found that “sticking up for myself” is a less motivating reasoning than, “Stick it to the assholes that probably do this shit to others too.” I can be passionate about helping victims very easily and help myself at the same time. The anxiety is predominantly caused by feeling wronged and like you’re not worth the solution. It’s extremely similar to depression, just with less perceived control. Similarly your self esteem is lowered and it can feed into the circle and spiral downward. If you position the actions against it as someone else’s benefit then there is no self esteem required and the circle is broken… at least for me, someone with chronic depression and anxiety later in life.

Ask them how they got it wrong. Request a policy change that would address it. If it’s public, foia their process on your ticket and resolution.

To be clear, I don’t mean be a Karen, but more just to insist that it’s a problem worth solving and that the solution should be making it impossible in the future, as broadly as possible.

As an example my car came back from an alignment/inspection and they only finger tightened all 20 lugnuts when they returned it. I called and refused to identify the employee or car, but requested a policy change to make that absolutely impossible to happen again. The manager was distraught and very serious, so I didn’t want to ruin someone’s life on something they could definitely learn to do better on. At the same time, someone else’s life could be ruined. For my own solution I’d just check it before driving every time work is done in the future but that doesn’t really help anyone else.

This is the nature of a defederated website. There are multiple hosts who all act independently, but have decided to source from each other. Upvotes come in from instances you aren’t on who refuse deletions or process them on a delay.

This means that Lemmy is very difficult to pull information back from, if it’s even possible at all. There are no doubt instances that are almost solely functioning as archives as well that may not even make themselves known except through requests to maybe only one ither instance. It’s great for anticensorship, but not great if you say something goofy you didn’t mean and are now getting downvotes from the instances that don’t believe in edits or whatever it may be.

Deletions not be honored is also pretty common generally, because there are accounts who create posts and then delete their accounts. On reddit it’s throwaway accounts, but on lemmy.world at least it destroys the posts permanently and then all of the engagement is locked under the nonexistent post which will be purged.

I think the best balance is instances allow deletions by admins/mods/the user, but do not allow deletions for account purging by the user. I don’t know how many flags there are in the data transmissions between instances to know the origin of the action or what button the user clicked.
