No, Trump imposed additional tariffs without reason on China. The only reason China raised tariffs, and by the way they literally stopped raising them because it’s pointless since they’re already so high, is because Trump started imposing them when he took office.
There already were trade agreements and tariffs in place negotiated with both countries input. These new tariffs were just slapped on by the Trump admin not as a reaction to anything but as a unilateral imposition.
You could also say they’re unilateral because they’re only aimed at China and no other states if you want to look at it that way too.
Eh, I wouldn’t say Americans reached the level of industrialized genocide Nazi Germany achieved but we definitely had and still have plenty of blood on our hands.
Hey! You skipped the civil war concentration camps on both sides, how dare you.
I’m starting to wonder if we’re going to get killed while we scream how wrong it is.
This is like the difference between normal and right. Like I know a ton of people normally search for answers by putting full questions in. With the advent of LLMs and AI being thrown into everything asking full questions starts to make more sense.
For actual good results using a search engine, for sure what you said is better.
Yeah, it’s called employee rights and strong laws. Those exist overseas, most European countries are good examples. The USA is ass backwards when it comes to our employee protections.
As an example, in many countries they need to give a reason for terminating your employment - pay out x amount of time depending on the reasons given and since your healthcare is NOT tied to employment you don’t need to worry about that going away. That’s not even discussing their paid vacation time or other legal protections.
Basically, you can’t just fire people for some janky made up reason. As you can imagine this also leads to better hiring practices because the companies can’t just cut a person out of nowhere so they need to make sure they’re hiring good folks from the get go. Plus it means more job security and that the companies do a better job forecasting labor demand since they can’t just hire a bunch and fire whatever percentage as a rule of thumb.
Anyways, I don’t know if we would ever have a chance as Americans, but I can tell you what you’re asking literally already exists.
It’s not but party unity is also important and we won’t find perfection. Working within the confines of our real world is important but I agree that we need better representatives. Booker is just what our system gave us and he’s a lot better than many alternatives and worse than others.
Mostly I think having a unified message and party is important but hard when you’re dealing with people who actually care.
Well Booker is doing a hell of a lot more than most other reps when it comes to this, no need to shit on the dude.
Like, I’d take him over the GOP candidate that ran against him.
Bro I didn’t feel like fucking with the free fillable forms (basically an electronic version equivalent to filling out and mailing in paper forms) so I used H&R Block this year. They forced me to pay 60 because I can’t file if something somewhat arbitrary “needs done” and having an HSA meant they forced me to input info about it for determining itemizing vs standard. I knew I was taking the standard, could tell them to ignore that HSA shit and still it wouldn’t let me file for free.
It was so stupid.
Next year I’ll not wait until the last minute and go through the trouble of actually filling out the forms but it’s a pain in the ass.
I wish our taxes were like everywhere else on this planet with a reasonable and effective government. Send me a check or a bill. If I think I’m due more or shouldn’t owe I’ll do my own audit of their math and can say “hey fix this” but 99% of the time it’s just right. So much easier and cheaper and simpler.
This country is a joke sometimes.
A better question to ask, what will be done if it is illegal? If there’s no consequences to illegal actions then what does it matter other than having an “il” in front of legal?
