As an adjacent observer(Canada, and we have our own idiots) it’s kinda funny. The US has had so much time and so many resources to not being the shithole it is today and they just couldn’t bring themselves, as a country, to get there. Other countries have done way better with less so we know it’s possible.

And oh the suburbs, where the greatest argument always seems to be centered around how much they hate their neighbours and believe that a cut lawn in a development is closer to nature than a full, grown back alley with maybe even a small community garden(fairly common in the major city where I live).
To your point about where the capitalist would spend money it’s actually the other way around. Capitalists hate the countryside, and nothing makes it more obvious than the shitty state of internet and package delivery. It costs way too much money to lay a mile of high-speed cable just so two families can pay not-even-that-much for an internet plan. USPS is and Canada Post are crucial services because of how badly the private parcel companies don’t want to serve rural communities.

Except that even if your commute is 20km that’s still going tonlast you all week. Obviously there are other trips to make but it’s definitely not stopping 99.9% of people in the middle of their commute, or even their workday, to charge.
I don’t know why so many people think whatever they buy needs to be able to handle every single fringe case they’ve never even experienced or why they think that something being absolutely adequate for their own use is somehow bad. It’s room-temp IQ bullshit and I’m tired of it.
17k for a vehicle powered by a watch battery(exaggeration) is pretty sick and more than practical, even for people in North America.
That’s a low bar, but importantly they’re still correct that technically Windows looks like it can handle those things as far as a regular consumer can see. Windows is unholy trash, but it at least doesn’t tell people who can’t even navigate their basic file explorer that they are expected to use scary terminal commands they likely found on a forum or third-party website.
Personally I think a little more tinkering spirit would do the whole world good, not just with computers, but reality is the way that it is for the moment(things can change, fingers crossed).
He bas been, which is the wild part. He’s not saying “oh this was a bad idea, whoops” but he is adding all kinds of exceptions all the time as major corporations tell him how awful they are. Terrified of being seen as weak, so many tariffs will remain but it is really funny watching them scramble to pretend like they aren’t the absolute worst at their jobs.
