I find it interesting that this site knows where I am, but every time I use a generic search for things near me, my browser thinks I am in South Detroit. Actually,I just tried this with wifi off and the site now thinks that I am in Detroit .so it seems to be a T-Mobile thing where websites think I am in Detroit.

Flat screen TVs replaced CRT in the 2000’s, the iPhone came out in 2007, HD home media in the form of Blu-Ray, the PS3 and xBox 360, and mass internet adoption all occurred in the 2000s. Yeah I doubt the Kurds are interested in fighting wars the US anymore since they have been burned every time. I believe that Kurdish armament this month is purely defensive since they have no idea how this is all gonna play out.

I think the current understanding is that Iran is leading with all their cheap missiles since American and Israeli defenses will only last a few weeks of sustained attacks. The calculus works out in Iran’s favor to slowly introduce their more sophisticated arms as US/Israeli defenses slowly get overwhelmed.

I read it as melting snow, not just getting it off the drive way. But just blasting the snow from your driveway onto to street won’t be a ton of help either since that still needs to get plowed.

It actually doesn’t remove the snow, which I think makes it a PERFECT analogy since you’ve wasted a shit ton of energy on the flashy,expensive, idea instead of just doing what actually works.

I wouldn’t say “useful” but the military industrial complex does at least employ actual people to create actual things, where as an AI data center just siphons off the resources of an area and creates no jobs. This is avoiding any moral judgement on weapons production, simply saying that the energy that goes into it is creating an actual product.
