It doesn’t require “planning”. You throw them in your bag and that’s it. That’s not a plan.

You’re not considering the scenario of a dead battery.

So the controller never dies unless you’re playing for more than a day straight
Or…you didn’t plug it in? I don’t have to worry about plugging it in. Not every hour. Not every Day. Not every week or every year. There is never a time when the batteries are dead or I need to fiddle with a cable. Ever.

I don’t have to manage charging anything. If I neglect it, and it dies, I just swap charged batteries into it. That’s the whole point.

You’re not…

They’re always charged because I put them on the charger when I rotate them.

I don’t run out. They’re rechargeable.

People still say this about the Steam Deck 3 years later even though, as you said, there’s no evidence of that, so, good luck with your message LOL

I never brought a spare with me because that required more planning than charging at night.
I can’t answer your question because this just makes zero sense to me.

Because my choice in controller, or any other product for that matter, isn’t singular.

I already have one. It’s called the Steam Controller LOL.

I’m not answering the same questions yet again. Goodbye.

It doesn’t matter if it’s “asking a lot” or not, I just don’t want to do it. I don’t want to worry about it. It’s not my preference.

I’d rather have screws than those clip-in covers that break
How about clip in covers that don’t break? I’ve been using my XBone controller for like 7 years, swapping batteries out every week or so, and it still works fine. Running in and out screws definitely will not be nearly as durable, especially if they’re anything like the Steam Deck’s screws.

You’re the one getting downvoted to hell
oh got it, so it’s only cool to have a discussion when everyone agrees with you? That’s nice.
It doesn’t take a genuis to realize that walking away and doing literally anything else is more productive.
So why aren’t you doing that?
This is really telling of your overall mental capacity.
It is, my mental capacity is reserved for more important shit.
The obvious thing is to have a normal place that you set the controller down and just put the recharge puck there.
As I’ve said previously, there’s no power on my couch, and no way to get it there without creating a trip hazard.

It doesn’t take a genuis to figure out that you just charge it when you’re not using it.
No, but it does require attention to charge levels and remember to plug it in, which is not something I want to spend my finite mental bandwidth on.
You’re getting downvoted because you’re being a complete idiot.
Just because you disagree with me doesn’t make me an idiot. You downvoting and acting like a jackass when someone disagrees with you does, though.
Quit being defensive about it and just move on.
Brother, what do you think you’re doing here? You cannot accuse me of “being defensive” while you’re doing the exact same thing…

I suppose your phone has never died because you forgot to or didn’t have time to plug it in? It’s just yet another device that I have to worry about managing the battery.

(only necessary when it’s health depletes after years)
Incorrect. I replace them when they need charging. Pop the ones in the controller out, pop them on the charger, and pop freshly-charged ones in. 5 seconds.
I can change a the custom battery in my camera as quickly as any AA.
That is obviously not the case with the Steam controller.
you now need to buy special batteries from a particular source that likely won’t even be available for purchase 5-10 years on. Whereas AA are ubiquitous and can buy them from hundreds of vendors, and likely will be able to indefinitely.
Just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean I’ve “failed to explain” it. I’ve explained it over and over at this point.

You could use Matrix but it is very finicky and complicated.
You could use XMPP but they don’t have any nice clients.
You could use Zulip but it’s confusing as fuck to navigate.
You could use Mattermost but it’s tied to a corporation that seems intent on removing features from the open source version to convince you to buy a license.
You could use Quiet (not self-hosted but p2p) but it’s very new and very Alpha.
You can use NextCloud Talk but that’s probably more than you need, and it seems to be very difficult to maintain for many.
I won’t engage in any arguments, these are just my opinions, and options for OP.
…I don’t know how to be more clear about this. I don’t want to be tethered to a cable. The only other way to charge it is by removing it. I didn’t come up with this ridiculous suggestion. My suggestion was using a battery door, like my current Steam Controller has.
I don’t use lead acid battery.
