“All you need is love”
Modern western society is already founded on the belief that nobody is inherently superior to anyone else. Now of course in practice this has not always been the case, and there still exist a lot of people who really don’t believe this is true. But the ethos is still there, and most people would tell you they believe in it.
To continue that, and to your second point, one of the biggest flaws in any system we create is that humans are not perfectly logical and rational actors. You can’t count on everyone always doing the right thing, even if they could all agree what “right” even means.
Not very well. At least not for large communities, or ones that want to live modern lives in the developed world.
Yes it’s quite possible to have small communities where everyone knows each other, then you can enforce rules through consensus and social pressure.
But it would be impossible to have large societies or to live in a modern developed world with no hierarchical structures.

This is the vine that lives rent-free in my head the most. And that’s saying a lot.
I don’t remember if it was from one of the movies or one of the other related media, but don’t they claim to have put the humans into the matrix out of kindness and sympathy? That they wanted them to have a relatively easy and happy existence.
That becomes very believable if they don’t actually need them for power. And in fact it makes me wonder if the machines even need them conscious at all or could just as easily keep them comatose.
I they meant in the original concept of the plot, where humans were used for their brains’ processing power. In the movie I don’t think it would matter too much since they just need our heat and electricity.

My many issues with deploying federal forces against states’ wills aside, I 100% would rather be dealing with a US Army Airborne division than the incompetent, untrained, and malicious goons that make up ICE.

Any parent who says no is a bad parent and a bad person.

Also animals being able to change sex does not make them trans. Being transgender has to do with gender identity and its relation to biological sex.

States don’t pay federal taxes, citizens do.

Catholic dogma may be relatively strict, I’m not sure, I haven’t extensively studied other sects of Christianity. But Catholic people are, in my experience, pretty chill. If anything they’re a much more “love the sinner, hate the sin” kind of bunch. It’s the evangelicals you gotta watch out for.

The correct number of guitars to own is n+1, with n being the number of currently owned guitars.

I’m no longer religious, but Catholics are on the chiller side of the Christian spectrum.

Campaigning and fundraising is already happening but both parties. If there weren’t going to be midterms, the GOP would not be freaking out about them, campaigning, or fundraising. And they are freaking out about them.
But most importantly there is no such thing as “canceling midterms.” States run them, not the federal government. I will be at the polls in November and for the primaries before that and you should be too.
This is just moving the goalposts anyway. I was told that we would never have elections again. We had a lot of them in 2025 and they went very well for the Democrats. Then I was told midterms wouldn’t happen. Well they’re sure about to. And now it’s already moving to “midterms will happen but there will be voter suppression.” Yeah, welcome to America. There’s always been voter suppression. And we vote and make progress anyway.

Midterms are already happening. And Republicans need them to happen anyway.
