If there’s any justice, everyone who works for Palantir will be lined up next to everyone who worked for ICE.
I broke a player’s brain in college playing DND where an NPC just lied to her.
She’d asked where so-and-so was. NPC didn’t like her or her faction, so he just lied and said he’d taken up boxing. This isn’t an especially credible lie because so-and-so was a lightweight nerd. But she says okay and goes tearing up the local boxing clubs, and can’t find the guy.
She’s like “where is he?”
Me: “you don’t see him, and no one’s even heard of him.”
Her: “but the guy said he was here”
Me: “he did”
Her: “so where is he”
Me: “doesn’t look like he’s here”
Her: “but he said he was”
Me: “he did say that”
Her: “so why isn’t he here?”
This went on for a while until one of the other players got impatient and said “the guy who doesn’t like you maybe lied to you! Or was wrong! Can we move on please??”

At one of the bigger groceries I’ve been to, the wheels would lock up if you got too far from the store. Well, we’d parked outside that range so the wheels locked up and I had to awkwardly drag the full cart to the car.
Being a good person, I went to drag it back to the return spot. The wheels did not unlock. Dragged it all the way back anyway.
But given this, I can see why someone might just abandon their cart if the wheels are locked.

Pretty much every time I go to one of the local grocery stores I see a crew of firefighters roll up in their truck buying food.

I just link people to good posts I find on here.
You’re not going to get a typical apathetic person to change anything.

…what? Go do something else instead of watching YouTube-style content then. Read a book. Take up knitting. Do crosswords.
You can live a full life without Internet videos.

I was hoping step 2 was going to be “and then they don’t leave”, but your plan is pretty good too.

I am a few steps removed from his social circle. I’ve never met him, but a few friends of mine have. They all have said he’s a sincerely good person.
Now, that’s just a second hand story from the Internet, but for my part that’s helping me be optimistic about him.

Oh man kids and making shit up.
There was a kid who told me he had all these new mortal Kombat games. Just complete fabrications.
I told another kid that if you got all the chaos emeralds in sonic 3 (I’m old) you could turn into super sonic. Imagine my shock when that turned out to be true.

Yeah I thought “campus” said “compus”

I didn’t do all the optional bosses in expedition 33. I finished the plot and was so powered up the story bosses didn’t even get a turn. But fighting the billion hp “dodge 13 hits in a row or die” just wasn’t fun for me.

If the legal system concludes that he cannot be charged for murder, then the legal system is in error and should be amended.
The legal system is not a sacred, immutable, thing. It’s a bunch of agreements.
My parents tried this many years ago.
Since then my dad has gotten better- he runs Ubuntu and so far as I know keeps it up to date. My mother on the other hand gets upset if anything at all changes on her computer, and so never updates or anything

. I will never understand how he got these people so duped
They are stupid. So, kind of tautologically, they reason poorly and make bad decisions.

How would you prevent the cognitive test from being used to remove candidates for political reasons?
“Sorry, he failed the test because he couldn’t sing the texas anthem”
You could maybe have the questions and answers public, but the voting public is poorly informed and educated.
You could have some sort of third party do it, but then the conservatives would spend decades corrupting that.

Yep. I’ve been during linux as my main desktop for maybe a year or two now, and it’s been fine. I don’t tinker with it. Most things just work.
The only thing that’s been a little dicey is mods for games, but I think I just need to figure out how like wine and proton prefixes work. It’s probably not hard, I just haven’t had a need lately.

The young adult and youth experience in the UU church was pretty great. Less church-y, more interactive. I made a lot of good friends when I was younger there.
