To me, all of the fediverse feels just the same as the platforms they set out to replace. Mastodon nowadays is like 50% bots and 50% stupid people, like twitter, just a slightly different echochamber. Lemmy feels the same as reddit to me, also echochamber-y and botty, just more dead (as in less people). Very frustrating. The german memes here are fire, though.

poloqualle@feddit.orgto World News@lemmy.world•The destruction of Palestine is breaking the worldEnglish22·13 days agoIt’s their little pet conflict, they don’t care about anything else and arguably don’t really care about gaza or palestine. Most probably don’t even know the difference between the two.
If you call out obvious iranian propaganda or do so much as hinting at “using women and children as human shields is bad”, you are a zionist, genocide-apologist, blahblahblah.
Calling out antisemitism, especially within the self-proclaimed political left, is another sure way to get some ad hominem insults and/or threats.
That being said, your comment is still a straw man.

It’s just white middle class’ substitute for religious belief. We are the divinely good, they are the divinely bad. Thus devoid of all critical thinking.

I really like it. Yes, you have way more control by using docker/nixos/etc of course, but for things like seafile or nextcloud, yunohost does the good ol’ 80% job with 20% of the effort and time, at least for me.
None of the popular/successful apps are bad.
They usually have great ui/ux and are being actively developed or at least maintained. Think google maps, apple wallet, or of course discord. What is hot garbage, however, is having to accept massive privacy violations if you use them. Vencord unfortunately does not mitigate that. :(
