7·6 months agoI am in construction (not manufacturing) and own my own business. Truth is, they are both right.
Rodney is right because there are a huge number of variables that the prof’s equation is ignoring. Also, it is generally a good idea to know what you are manufacturing and work to produce that product as efficiently as possible. The professor is sort of putting the cart before the horse by building a factory with no product.
That said, we are in a learning environment and seemingly in a lower-level class. You have to strip away real-world variables to teach the lessons at hand. The professor is right not to include corrupt politicians and mafia folk, it’s too much when you are trying to start with the basics. But he should’ve had the class decide on a product - he said it himself, it could be anything - and then build up from there.
Mafia payoffs are a 300 level course.
I call all of it “sugar water” so that my kids know the two main ingredients.
Fortnite? My kids don’t play it anymore, I don’t know.
60·8 months agoThose of us possibly even older may point to the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine in '87. From Wikipedia, the fairness doctrine “required the holders of broadcast licenses both to present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that fairly reflected differing viewpoints.” In short, it’s repeal paved the way for Fox News and led all the way to CBS under Weiss.
But to your point, there are 3 things on my platform that I tell anyone who wants to hear it. 3 actionable items:
- Reinstate the Fairness Doctrine.
- Repeal the Patriot Act.
- Overturn Citizens United.
I didn’t say it would be easy.
So, she shares a name with The Walrus of Love himself, Barry White. Cool. There’s a joke in there somewhere…

181·9 months agoGood. It’s terrible that this is a reality, but what is happening here is the decriminalization of being homeless and a student. Sure, you have to have a car, which isn’t great, but for those in this situation that need this service, I imagine it to be a comfort.
What this also does is make a very public safe space for people in dire conditions to congregate, commiserate, and hopefully organize. Please make a tent city; nothing will help illustrate the problem more. Create a safe place for unhoused people and see just how many show up.
A safe space for anyone to help meet their basic needs should always be a good thing.

6·10 months agoTears of the Kingdom and Minecraft would be important to save for their infinite playability due to their physics and craft engines. Final Fantasy 6 for story. Stellaris so people could have a competitive, chess-like monster to wrap their mind around. And Bonk for TurboGrafx16 so everyone could know that game design just doesn’t happen overnight.

The concept described here is what us homebuilders call “make up air.” In a tight envelope, when you need to exhaust air, you have to forcibly introduce fresh air to make up the difference. Otherwise your envelope (home) will sit in a vacuum and air won’t move anywhere.
Usually, there is only one window in a bathroom. If you have a fan, turn it on and open the window and it should disappate quickly. If you only have the window and no fan, punch a hole through the drywall to the next room, preferably close to the baseboard for optimal airflow. I assume you are at your “special friend’s house” and trying to hook up. Wait a few minutes and it should clear. Hope this helps!
