How do you mean?
Kiss someone else, then ask your partner?
Or are you asking how to approach the topic with your partner?

Hah, great question. I did. And then I realized, this only works if the TV is on the moment the switch happens.
Which in the evening is actually pretty commonly the case… But never in the morning.

Do you need a Github link? Assuming recent-ish LG, should he the same.

I have a lot of custom stuff, esp. regarding HomeAssistant integrations. But my favorite “stupid/not stupid if it works” solution is the following:
I have an LG TV and attached Nvidia Shield. The Shield is the only input we ever use on the TV, and since its remote also can turn the TV on/off and control volume, its all we need. Which is pretty neat, only one remote.
Except for image settings (i.e. proper bright picture during the day, different less bright image mode during the night). I don’t want to keep the extra remote on the couch just for that, but unfortunately, these settings are not exposed via HDMI CEC.
They are, however, exposed via a web API on LG TVs. So my utterly stupid solution is this:
(I feel the need to add: the TV is in an isolated subnet and has never once communicated with the internet, and it will damn well die an internet virgin.)
Anyways, this has been working flawlessly for 2+ years! I also have toggles in HA for the same endpoints, but honestly, never use them. It’s so nice to just be able to toggle the image via remote.

I am in one (I think… see below). We agreed to open the relationship, IDK, 7 years ago? Something like that. We’re both bi/pan, and sexuality- and kinkwise pretty incompatible. Neither of us was remotely willing to give up the relationship because of that though, because romantically and non-sexual-intimacy wise, the relationship is amazing. Oh god I love her so much.
Anyways, we decided to open the relationship with a couple ground rules:
She went on a couple of dates but didn’t actually end up sleeping with anyone, I slept with a couple of people. And… things were cool! It worked out for us. If anything, we grew even closer.
The reason I said above that I “think” we’re in an open relationship is simply because neither of us has taken advantage of the openness of the relationship in at least 3 years, lmao. And so if I would decide that I’d like to get active again in that regard, that would 100% be preceded with a “hey, are we still open? Are you still comfortable with that, or have your thoughts changed?” conversation.

WOW
Took me a while to look at her name. Bravo though.

Interesting. I can’t relate, but I guess just goes to show his subjective the question is.

I don’t think you know just how much you have offended the entirety of the German tech world.

Interesting about the stevia! May I ask what it tastes like to you? A couple of years I bought a liquid stevia sweetener on a whim (the “regular” one might have been sold out), and was surprised that it tasted… Idk. Sweet, but way warmer than regular sweetener. Hard to describe. Used up the bottle, then bought my regular sweetener again and somehow, it tasted awfully bitter to me now. Somehow, I can’t go back now and really like stevia.

I’ve made a complete 180 on Campari. I haaaaaaated it and regretted buying the bottle the first time I tried a cocktail with it. Couldn’t believe how it ruined the entire drink. Since I had the bottle, I tried again, with a different drink. Even worse.
Was close to chucking the bottle out, gave it one last try with a modified Jungle Bird:
Shake with relatively little ice. Strain into low-ball glass lightly packed with crushed ice. Let dilute for a minute.
Surprisingly, despite being able to taste the Campari, this one was actually really great. Made it again a couple of days later, and again. Since then, it’s my favorite cocktail, period.
After a while, went back and tasted Campari pure and to my mild surprise, also liked it. Went back to the awful drinks (first one was a Negroni) and also really liked them now.
So… yeah. I don’t know why, but somehow, I went from hating it to absolutely loving it.

…oh. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
Looks like only their “small web” initiative is 100% self-indexed, and everything else is indeed a mixture of sources.
Oof.
I guess tue point still stands: the results are a lot better than plain Google, all the bullshit is stripped out and you get to customize your results in actually useful ways.
Still sad though.

I know it’s not the thing you likely want to hear, but… At this point, I’m glad I switched to a paid search engine (Kagi).
Theoretically, there’s nothing stopping them from enshittifying down the road. But at least for now (and hopefully the future) they are a great search engine.
They have their own index (so no relying on google/bing), and it actually works as I remember Google working 7+ years ago. Minus the ads, and plus a ton of flexibility permanently boosting/removing sites from your searches, auto-grouping/ignoring listicle-type articles in results, flagging sites as AI slop and punishing them for it,…
They even have a fediverse search “lense” that actually works really well to search Lemmy/mastodon/…
I just realized I sound like a paid shill. Sorry about that. I’m not.

Boiling broccoli.
It’s just bad, and wrong. I know lots of people who don’t like broccoli, and when I ask why it’s usually because that’s the only / main way they’ve had it. For me it’s the opposite, I love broccoli, it’s my favorite vegetable.
Acceptable methods of preparation, in descending order:
Note this only applies to fresh broccoli, the frozen stuff is unsalvageable.

Or just configure all the machines to auto-update from the flake at the repo. Doing this for my VMs. I have a CI machine that builds my pinned flake from the repo tip, and about 30 other VMs check nightly if the repo tip has moved, and if so, rebuild from the new tip; which, thanks to the CI machine, means just downloading and activating a new generation, nothing compute heavy.

Finally. Been saying for years, NixOS is the obvious choice for a gov distro.
Related, but the amount of tech and/or privacy adjacent youtubers I have seen complain about ads, about what they’re doing to be less susceptible, how this or that change is TOO much, and so on if baffling. JUST USE AN ADBLOCKER. There’s always one comment pointing that out, with a derailed conversation below, but most of the comments will be “actually, if you repeatedly close then reopen a YouTube video for 10-15 times, it will not show the ad on the next open!” with a million “don’t tell, now Google is gonna patch!” replies. I wish I was joking.
If you don’t use an Adblocker, get one, NOW. It takes 30s. If you think “it’s not that bad”, install it anyways and give it a try for a week. Disable it. See if it’s really “not that bad”, lmao.
Install them on your parents’ devices. Your grandparents’. Siblings. Friends.
Does it actually? My VM has a lot of RAM, and Proxmox reports usage always around 90%, but that’s no matter how much RAM it ACTUALLY has, because almost all of that is cache and not strictly necessary. free -m shows Jellyfin using maybe 2 Gigs.
Hmm, you mean when HA sees the TV come back? Interesting, that might work.
I’s rather not do the force refresh option, because sometimes you do want different profiles. Very dark show, sometimes I want the bright setting at night. Very overcast day, sometimes the dark setting is better during the day.
