TSA is removing chairs from checkpoints, said the American Federation of Government Employees TSA Council 100, which represents workers and criticized the move as a “disregard for workers’ rights and safety" and added the chairs “serve as basic ergonomic and safety support for officers that stand and walk on hard surfaces all day.”
TSA confirmed the decision, saying: “This welcome change reinforces both our security posture and our commitment to hospitality by having these officers on their feet and alert. All officers must meet fitness for duty requirements to be capable of performing their vital national security function.”

TSA Agents are miserable enough as is. Let’s make their feet hurt too, that’ll improve the experience for everyone
I mean anything that makes them suffer a little more is a win in my book.
I feel like you’re the type of person who leaves trash on the floor because a janitor will come around to take care of it eventually.
Are you unfamiliar with the TSA? They’re not janitorial staff, they are prison staff.
“I’m giving them a job!”
Unlike a janitor the TSA aren’t providing an essential service, they’re just diet ICE.
The rare db0 bootlicker.
Only in government and megacorp-run buildings.
Yeah. Fuck the exploited and low paid govt/megacorp janitor. That’ll certainly show the people in charge 🙄
Why do you need to specify it?
Cause the alternative is that otherwise it may rot or some volunteer picks it up… Not sure it’s better.
I hate you.
Ok, so you hate the fascist enforcer, but think for a second. When you’re in an airport, you’re stuck with them. Pissing them off is like poking an angry dog that’s harassing your neighborhood, It’s only going to get people hurt. Anything short of removing the dog from the neighborhood is just going to make things worse.
If I’m going to have to suffer a jailer, I’d rather they be fat and happy and willing to let things slide than pissed off, in pain, and trying to take it out on me.
On one hand fair enough, but on the other hand they’ll take it out on everyone else.
