And it’s amazing that others [who have been] in this room underwrote electing a man who, in the last week, single-handedly destroyed all of American science. It’s amazing how much good science you can destroy with $320 million and RFK Jr, very fast.

      Another From a different article:

Using the metaphor of a wheel to illustrate the concept of symmetry, Rogen said the wheel could roll either left or right — and quipped that the crowd would “roll right,” according to a source in the audience. The edited version skips over the joke and cuts straight to Norton’s response: “But that would break the symmetry.”

      And the cherry

When asked why Rogen’s potentially embarrassing comments were excised, a spokesperson for the Breakthrough Prize Foundation said, “This year’s ceremony lasted longer than the prior few years, and several edits were made in order to meet the originally planned run time.”

They realize the mood of the mob right now is extremely volatile. If were all just relatively fat and happy like we were 6 months ago, they would have laughed and took their punches.

I used to like Hacker News. Then I started reading the unhinged comments that people leave on there, and immediately stopped using the site. I really only went there because of The Brutalist Report, but still. Fuck that, and those out of touch assholes.

I kinda treat HN a bit like YouTube now, it’s a source of content, I’m not at all there for discussion

I can’t remember the last time I clicked into an “Ask HN” thread and learned something of value
