You probably don’t speak any of the languages from the countries you listed. Almost everything that you know about them you’ve learned from “western” sources. You, like many others come to the fediverse and are exposed to counter narratives for the first time in your life. This comes as a shock, and you think that such people must be crazy, paid shills or bots. I encourage you to stick around, and actually read what people are saying.

Also, don’t mistake nuance for unqualified support. Do I like Iran’s government? No, but that doesn’t really matter. Right now my government (who does far greater harm to the world than any others you mentioned), is killing people there. I know from my experience and knowledge of history, that the US “intervening” is not going to end up improving the lives of the people there.

Why are they in lemmy.ml? Because they wanted to congregate somewhere and Lemmy was made by far left people and is federated so it’s probably a good choice to avoid censorship.

Why do they admire authoritarian regimes? Each may have a different reason but one common reason is because those regimes are anti-western or socialist/communist. So if you’re socialist/communist, hate a lot of aspects of the west or just like rooting for the underdog but still want a big team you can throw your support behind then those countries are the obvious choice. Of course you can be socialist, communist or anti-western without supporting authoritarian regimes, but then you basically have to admit that every time socialism/communism has been tried it has failed and you may be discomforted by the thought that there’s no powerful countries fighting for humanity and become hopeless.

Why are people socialist/communist? Usually because they see a lot of problems with capitalism, often to do with inequality, while socialism/communism promises total equality and fairness.

Why are people anti-western? I wouldn’t say the people we’re talking about are consistently anti-western, since they don’t oppose many things the modern west represents, like LGBTQ, technology, “democracy”, human rights, common law, federalism, hedonism, progressivism, etc. It seems to me they only dislike the aspects they’ve been told to dislike by western mainstream media and education, which focuses on things like the Atlantic slave trade (rather than slavery in Africa, the middle east, eastern Europe, pre-Columbian America or literally anywhere else in all of world history) and Nazi Germany (rather than Communist Russia, China, North Korea or Cuba).

Why do countries under the US/NATO/the West siege adopt strong tactics to survive?

They are not communists or socialists. They are campists.

The mistake is assuming they care about the political idealogy they ascribe to. They exist exclusively as an oppositional force to whatever the West represents. The reality is that if the Western hegemony disappeared tomorrow, they would lose their entire raison d’etre. They dont care at all about the principles of communism. It’s an esthetic that they can bury themselves in order to criticize the West.

Because engaging with the reality of effecting the goals of communism would entail coming to face with the brutal process of realizing effective change. You know, being politically effective. That would undermine the entire movement and modus operandi.

EDIT: I want to be clear about something. I am not condeming ML for being Communist/whatever. I’m condemning them because my interactions with their users have consistently been bad. They have proven themselves to be not very bright and very loud about their ignorance. Same vibes I get from interacting with MAGAts, despite their ideology being noticeably different.

These people are called “tankies”. It’s communists who like militarism and imperialism, as long as it’s of their own flavor. The internet has many such “bunkers” where these people congregate. They unironically support the countries you mention, and they do not represent the entire left-wing community.

I’d argue that they aren’t the result of capitalist policies being shitty. Such communities have existed on the internet since the early 00s. It’s just their ideology.

Why are they on lemmy? My guess is that Reddit banned some of their communities for posting violent content (threats of violence etc.) so they moved to lemmy, which does not censor people to the degree Reddit does.
