I think it is. Looking at some other photos, it looks like he got a lot of sun or smoked or something from an early age + an unflattering pose.

yeah, I have no proof and have done no research, but my guess is that in the earlier photos he is a chef, and in the latter photos he is a celebrity chef.

Chefs work long hours and late nights in an extremely stressful job. They are renouned for their habits of heavy drinking and chain smoking. Stress, poor sleep, drinking, and smoking, all contribute to premature aging.

But celebrity chefs must look good. This isn’t to say their job isnt stressful - but there is an additional pressure put on them to look good for the camera, because while your mom might love you no matter what, people watching tv mostly wanna look at pretty people. Enter: professional skin care routines, botox, personal chefs, personal lifestyle coaches, professional hair stylists, personal assistants, style consultants, and hair and makeup anytime you go out in public. Any celebrity who still gives a shit about their career and public image has a small army of people dedicated to keeping them looking as young and hot as possible for as long as possible.

Hence the apparent reverse aging effect. A combination of having a low starting point, and then making significant improvements in both health and aesthetics.

If I remember correctly, he has talked about how he used to be overweight and out of shape. When he started running to get healthier people (kids probably) would point at him and laugh. But he persevered and now he runs a lot, eats oatmeal every morning, etc.

I do t think that’s true, or he must have been quite young because he always talks about how he wanted to go pro as a football player and damaged his ankle or knee and had to give up on that dream.

I happened to look up Emeril Lagasse today and I was assuming he’s in the vicinity of 90 now. Turns out he’s actually only 66, which is incredible. Celebrity chefhood hasn’t helped him out at all.
