They did their Royale edition about five years ago that kinda breathed new life into Persona 5 since it also released on a bunch of new systems. I know that’s how I got to experience the game, once it came to PC.

Hopefully it’s harder (on the hard difficulty settings) than P5R is. Hard in P5R kinda hits the apex of its challenge with the 2nd dungeon’s boss and the Merciless mode actually makes the game really easy.

Wouldn’t mind if the protagonists were older too. Maybe college aged? I’m in my 40’s! It’s hard to take seriously the difficulties of teens that haven’t even had to deal with the misery of the adult world yet.

Might be luckier with the SMT’s then the Persona’s but even then teenage protags are still a staple. The recent two Like a Dragon games both have a middle ages protagonist fwiw.

I’ve only played 5 and it was the typical teen boy becomes a god and changes the world kinda thing. I wish JRPGs would escape that crap but I guess it’s part and parcel of the genre.

Shame that they are going to insist on using those ugly anime cutscenes when they could do them in-engine and keep the experience consistent.

The animated cutscenes in the original P3 are really cool and stylish. I don’t care for them all that much in P4 or P5, but it can definitely be done well. My understanding is that P3Re removed most (all?) of the 2D animation, so you might have your wish anyway.

I have to check that out. It’s weird since I think it has been their cutscene style after P4 anime began and they did the P3 movies but I might be wrong.
