I think you have to look at overall outcomes not what it was like under the occupation. In Afghanistan things were probably slightly better in the larger population centers during the occupation for the average person and especially for women. In the rural settings things were worse from the constant skirmishes. And as we saw basically everything was reversed as soon as the troops left.

What? No one is expressing sympathy for the government, they’re expressing sympathy at the senseless loss of life. Those girls lives mattered regardless of what their government wants to force them to believe. I understand being horrified by what they are doing over there, but I really don’t think this comment is getting a point across. Those are two unrelated events that just happened in the same part of the world. We have decades of evidence to suggest that not bombing or doing regime change to countries actually improves living conditions there, so really him bombing likely is setting things back even further.

Uh… source? Something tells me that’s not, in fact, what they’re teaching in Iranian schools. That aside I don’t think I’ve seen Iran ask for anyone’s sympathy—which makes sense, the moral bankruptcy of most of the people in a position to provide that sympathy (aka Western politicians and elites) is very clear in Iranian history. When they were making those AI music videos they were attacking Trump rather than asking for sympathy per se.

Iran has played a role in a positive side effect of the US-Israel war at enormous cost to its people. That is the loss of confidence in the US military and soft power. US, Canadian and European gov’ts have not played a positive role in this process. Iran has. You build a strawman around people who note and appreciate the positive role Iran’s played in this process.
There were zero confidence in us soft and very little military power since ~20 years nothing of value was lost.
