Many companies like websites, tv, radio, etc. depend on the revenues from advertisers to pay their workers and expenses. If they didn’t have that, everything would likely turn to susbscription or a regular pleading for money so they could continue.
If companies need advertisements to inform potential customers, let them do that in an appropriate place. For instance, an adds booklet.
Allowing companies to use the public space to advertise is not in the interest of the populace: it stimulates overconsumption and it creates distracting stimuli in an environment that is already very busy. It also facilitates unfair competition when advertising space is sold to the highest bidder, since company wealth supersedes product quality or utility.
cool, so they should still ban ads entirely. it’s a waste
while their at it, also ban a lot of the bullshit they put on products too… zero sugar you claim? why is number 3 on the ingredient list… sugar? ohhh that’s right, you manipulated the serving size so math stoically there’s 0% sugar… but it’s a lie so ya know…
Makes sense, but why not also include ads for alcohol?
There are already some nationwide restrictions on ads for alcohol, though not (yet) a complete ban.
I guess it wasn’t part of this specific initiative, since it was aimed at carbon-polluting industries, whereas alcohol is a different type of problem.
Why not ban all advertising. It’s all a waste of energy.
